Virginia Maclure is a lifelong South Carolinian with deep roots in Greenville. After graduating from Greenville High and earning her Retail Management and Business degree from the University of South Carolina, she returned home, married, and got to work building a life grounded in service and hard work.
Her career has taken her through two worlds she loves: food and animals. She spent years in restaurants and catering, then a decade in a small‑animal veterinary practice as both office manager and vet tech. When the opportunity came, she launched her own luncheon and catering business inside The Open Book — proving she’s never been afraid to roll up her sleeves and create something from scratch.
A lifelong passion for horses eventually pulled her to Landrum, where she spent another ten years as a large‑animal vet tech, all while filling her home with rescue dogs and spending every spare moment in the saddle. And because she’s never one to sit still, she later opened another small restaurant and food truck, serving her community one meal at a time.
Today, Virginia is in “semi‑retirement,” finally able to devote more of her time to giving back — supporting neighbors, strengthening her community, and staying connected to the people and animals she’s always cared for.

South Carolina’s District 18 is defined by its rolling hills, farmland, and close-knit communities — a landscape worth protecting for future generations. My mission is to preserve this rural heritage while encouraging thoughtful, sustainable growth that respects the character and values of our home. By working together with residents, local leaders, and small businesses, we can ensure that our communities thrive without sacrificing the natural beauty and open spaces that make upstate South Carolina so special.
I believe strong, commonsense zoning practices are essential to protecting land values, safeguarding property rights, and maintaining the charm of our countryside. Through open dialogue and collaborative planning, we can strike a balance between progress and preservation — keeping our district a place where families want to live, farmers can prosper, and natural landscapes remain unspoiled. I’m committed to ensuring that growth enhances our quality of life rather than erasing the traditions and environment that define who we are.

District 18's hills are worth protecting. Help me fight for commonsense zoning & thoughtful growth where businesses thrive, farmers prosper, and our natural landscapes remain unspoiled. Please donate $25, $50 or $more
